The tactics of Yahya's followers are to apparently spam and flood their target with text copy-pasted from Yahya's websites. And there are literally hundreds of such pages. One of their favorite ploys is to use quotes written by "evolutionists" who appeared to be in doubt about evolution.
Just a word to Yahya's acolytes: Your tactics have actually backfired quite badly upon you. Each time I hunted for the original source of your quote mine, I discovered what its true context was; or that it was written decades ago and has long since been supplanted by new information. The effect of your spam campaign has actually led to strengthening my position on evolution while viewing creationists as ever more dishonest.
Here is just one typical example of the lies Yahya promulgates:
Of course, no "shocking, severe blow" of the sort occurred. The leading science and evolution blogs were among the first to break this story...
This is just many of the strawman arguments and other distortions Yahya tries to perpetuate. The strawman argument is an apparent invention of Yahya's, who apparently want us to think "evolutionists" believed early humans stumbled around on all fours.
Nowhere do any serious evolutionary scientists claim that humans weren't walking upright 1.5 million years ago. With the general established consensus that bipedalism was around at least 4 million years ago with the australopithecines, bipedalism is to be fully expected in human ancestors. It's what defines them as belonging to the human line. What makes modern man "modern" is large brain and sophisticated language ability. Language, art, and other evidence of abstract thinking are what defines the modern human.
An Invitation to the Real Truth
Yahya's skill is at rhetoric and propaganda all wrapped in a pretty package. His tactics break a number of basic argumentative and research rules that are usually taught at high school level. Never before have I seen so many strawmen, quotes taken out of context, distortions, misinterpretations, misrepresentations, fallacious rhetorical appeals and outright lies crammed into a single page. In fact, each and every page that Yahya writes is like this. For a single person to address and correct all of the pages on his websites and books would be like asking a single person to clean up Haiti after the earthquake. It would be an overwhelming task. However, it might be a good exercise for a college professor to assign to his students - ask each one of them to deconstruct one Yahya page and point out its errors and fallacies. Or possibly a good exercise for a high school or college student who wished to earn extra credit.
Most professional scientists do not take Yahya seriously and most think he's simply a crackpot. Unfortunately, his tactic of flooding with misinformation reach the ignorant and gullible who have not spent the years it takes to understand the topic of evolution. This is the audience he aims for, and his tactics are very basic emotional appeals and fearmongering (e.g. demonizing western culture and blaming "the Illuminati" and "mind control"). To the educated person it is all very ridiculous. Unfortunately, too many people fall for it.
