Happy Phenylethylamine Day

Having experienced an unexpected speed bump in my schedule, I've been hard-pressed to find the time to post anything new (not even with the current juicy cartoon controversy, dagnabbit). ...But this blog being heavy on the discussion of evolution, I couldn't let Valentine's Day go by without posting something that ties in with the theme.

This one's a golden oldie that I did back in, oh, 1999 or 2000. The lead-in you really have to take with a smidgen of sodium chloride. It was based on some blurb I read in the newspaper a few years back, but I thought the premise was funny. The rest is more factually based. This will begin a series of cartoons and essays I plan to do that discuss the subject of gender roles and human evolution.

In the meantime, go out and have yourself some chocolate today... or even a salami sandwich -- (no metaphorical implications intended.)

Unpatriotic, and Certainly Not "Conservative"...

Patriotism vs. Nationalism Dept. ...

I'm not sure what to make of this mediocrat Ann Coulter. Occasionally she writes something (e.g. "Does My Resume Make Me Look Fat?") that I actually agree with. Too many other times she comes off as a live-action creation of Matt Stone and Trey Parker, trying to say something outrageous for shock value. Except "South Park" is usually more clever while sounding less desperate.

I've also heard it speculated that she's a liberal "plant". Sorry folks, but it just ain't "conservative" to suggest that one of the most basic tenets of the American Constitution is a bad idea.

The party punch bowl's been spiked, fellas. With something toxic. Fortunately not everyone is choosing to drink it.

``Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leader. This is easy. All you have to do is tell them you're being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country.'' -- Herman Goering, Hitlers Reich Marshal at the Nuremburg Trials.

"The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere." --Thomas Jefferson to Abigail Adams, 1787.

Obviousman might agree...

God Told Dubya To Go To War

"God" redux: Pat Robertson's pal George W. Bush claims that "God" told him to go to war

I think we can pretty much figure out which "God" -- er -- "Intelligent Designer" might be the culprit, here...

This Might Explain A Few Things

It's been a very busy week for me, but I managed to bang this one out. ;-). It's another speculation on "Intelligent Design" and was based on a newsgroup posting I wrote back in the year 2000. I wonder if they'll put it in the school science textbooks?
